Bandung Institute of Technology is one of the oldest universities in Indonesia, which makes its buildings’ architecture unique and has an oldish ambiance for its characteristics. The most interesting buildings among all of its buildings are the twin buildings, West Hall and East Hall. The West Hall and East Hall of ITB were designed in 1918 by a Dutch architect, Henry Maclaine Pont. West Hall and East Hall of ITB is one of four buildings in Indonesia that were designed by Henry Maclaine Pont. In his era, he popularized an art called Indisch architecture, a style of architecture that combines European architecture and archipelago architecture.
One interesting thing about the twin buildings is their roof. The supporting roof with traditional style which is adapted from various roof styles in Indonesia has formed a harmony with modern European building style. Another traditional aspect that remained in these buildings is the huge span roofs, which were made from small wood. The ventilation arrangements, rooms, and gates which are suitable for the tropic climate make these buildings the perfect buildings at that time.
This year, the 13th ITB International Geothermal Workshop will be held in the Energy Building and East Hall ITB
