Geothermal Field Camp at Mt. Tangkubang Perahu

Geothermal Field Camp is designed for participants who are eager to understand how the exploration stage of geothermal development is carried out in real field conditions. Through this program, participants will gain direct exposure to the geological characteristics of Tangkuban Parahu and its surrounding areas as an active geothermal system. The field camp offers an opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical observation, allowing participants to better understand the key elements of geothermal exploration in a real-world setting.

The geothermal field camp was conducted in the remarkable geological setting of Mount Tangkuban Parahu Volcano and its surrounding area, one of the most well-known volcanic geothermal regions in Indonesia. With its distinctive volcanic features, active manifestations, and accessible field exposures, the site provided an ideal natural laboratory for understanding geothermal systems in a real-world context. The program was designed to give participants direct exposure to the dynamic relationship between volcanism, geology, and geothermal potential.

Throughout the program, participants were introduced to essential geothermal field activities and practical methods commonly applied in geothermal exploration and evaluation. These activities included field observation, identification of surface manifestations, and discussion of the geological characteristics that control the formation and behavior of geothermal systems. By learning directly in the field, participants gained a clearer understanding of how theoretical concepts are applied in professional geothermal work.

In addition, the field camp provided foundational knowledge on geothermal fluid sampling and the basic characterization of geothermal systems. Participants were guided to understand the importance of fluid properties, field data collection, and preliminary interpretation in assessing geothermal resources. Overall, the program offered a valuable combination of academic learning and field-based experience, helping participants strengthen both their technical insight and practical understanding of geothermal science.
